Designated Leader or Drunk on Power?

Be a Designated Leader

Have you ever been to a Christmas or holiday office party and watched a fellow employee have a bit too much to drink?

Nice, huh? If so, you might have cringed a bit when an associate, a boss, or even a top executive allowed a little social lubrication to turn into high-octane courage.

As their courage grew, your respect for them diminished.

And, if you have witnessed this type of unbridled behavior (or had heard the tales of these events), think about how long those images of the drunken expoits stick in your head. These animated and often unbecoming images tend to stick around for quite some time.

“Hey Leader: People are watching you. Think about this at the next party, or in the next meeting.”

Well, with the people you work with, whether you are drunk on alcohol at a party, or drunk on power in your leadership, the images look much the same to onlookers. Make sure that you handle the responsibilities that you have been given carefully. Steward over your people, your resources, and your responsibilities with a clear and sober mind.

You certainly do not want your next important meeting to look like you were standing up in front of everyone saying the equivalent to:

This egg nog ROCKS!!
