Hi Tom – this is an interesting infographic and, for some of it, I’d be completely in agreement! The motivation stuff however doesn’t necessarily rest with the person leading and it’s not just about emotional intelligence, but more to do with the motivation levels of the people being led or following. I would say my views on motivation have changed significantly since I read Susan Fowler’s book, “Why motivating doesn’t work … and what does!” I would recommend all your readers who have long-established beliefs about motivation to read her book … and then reflect as I did. It is very liberating!
Merry Christmas and a Peaceful and Prosperous New Year!
I like the infographic. It summarizes the value of emotional intelligence in leadership quite effectively (in 2 minutes, you’ve said everything the HBR special on emotional intelligence says).
Reblogged this on THE STRATEGIC LEARNER.
